Manually Refresh a Content Cache

If there are changes to content and you want it to appear quickly on your live site, you can manually refresh the cache for that content after it is published. You can also manually refresh content caches in bulk.

To manually refresh the cache for a single content item

  1. Open the content item in the content editor.
  2. In the Actions panel, under More Actions, click Refresh Cache.

Content is split into two types for the purposes of bulk cache refreshes:

  • Level 1. Content items that use a content template that has the isContentCacheable field selected on the Content Layout record in Salesforce.
  • Level 2. Content items that use a content template that has the isPageCacheable field, but not the isContentCacheable field, selected on the Content Layout record in Salesforce. These content items typically contain page-specific properties.

If required, you can initiate a content cache refresh for both levels at the same time.

To initiate a site-wide content cache refresh

  1. In OrchestraCMS Setup, under Cache, click Content.
  2. Optionally, in the Email on Completion column, and the level of content cache you want to refresh, click to select the Yes check box if you want to receive an email when the cache refresh is complete; the email will be sent to the address associated with the Salesforce account of the user initiating the cache refresh.
  3. In the row of the level of content cache you want to refresh, click Refresh.
  4. Optionally, under the Level 1 Job Status or Level 2 Job Status area, click Refresh to view the current status of the cache refresh.

A cache refresh can take a while to complete. The actual time it takes depends on the amount of content you have and the current load on Salesforce servers.
