Create Media Content

The Media content type is used to add images and videos to your site.

Flash

Use the Flash content template to add videos to your site that are compatible with the Adobe® Flash® player (SWF format).

Add an SWF file to your site

  1. In the content editor, click Select.
  2. In the Select dialog, select the SWF file from the media library.
  3. Optionally, in the content editor, set the width and height of the video in pixels in the Width and Height boxes. If these measurements are not set, the original size of the video is used.
  4. In the Actions panel, click Save.

If you find that flash files are downloading rather than playing directly on your website pages, you can change the Salesforce File Upload and Download Security setting for the .swf file format to correct this issue.

Change the Salesforce File Upload and Download Security setting for the .swf file format

  1. In Salesforce Setup, expand Security Controls.
  2. Click File Upload and Download Security.
  3. On the File Upload and Download Security page, in the File Handling Options area, click Edit.
  4. Under the Download Behavior column, in the .swf row, select Hybrid from the list.
  5. Click Save.

Horizontal Image Bar

Use the Horizontal Image Bar content template to place several images together on a page. The images are placed directly beside each other in a horizontal row unless the combined width of the images is larger than the width of the droppable area on the page on which the content is placed. In this case, some of the images might be placed below the others or overlap other droppable areas. We recommend that the combined width of the images being used is less than the width of the droppable area on the page.

Each image can have its own alternative text, title, and link. Because of this, you might want to slice a single image and use the Horizontal Image Bar content template to give each section a unique link.

Create a Horizontal Image Bar content item

  1. In the content editor, click Add Image.
  2. In the Select Image dialog, select an image from the media library.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to add more images to the horizontal image bar.
  4. Select an alignment position for the image bar from the Align list.
  5. Optionally, do one or more of the following to make changes to the selected images:
    • Click on an image and drag it left or right to change the placement of the image in the horizontal image bar, and repeat as necessary to achieve the preferred order.
    • Click the red delete symbol below an image to remove it from the horizontal image bar.
  6. Optionally, click the green arrow icon below one or more of the images to edit the following image properties:
    • Alternative text. Alternative text makes your site more accessible for people who use screen readers or people who are viewing the site in a way that prevents them from downloading images. The alternative text should describe the image in a clear way.
    • Title text. The title text is displayed in a tooltip when the mouse pointer hovers over the image.
    • Link. The URL that the image links to.
  7. In the Actions panel, click Save.

Image

The Image content template is used to place a single image on a page. Although the Image content template allows you to select any file in your media library, only files that can be viewed in a browser appears on your site. Image file formats that are compatible with most browsers are JPEG, GIF, and PNG.
