Perform a Site-wide Page or Content Cache Refresh
Akamai provides worldwide caching to Force.com sites, and OrchestraCMS provides its own caching mechanism to increase the speed of your webpages.
You can set a cache interval in the properties of each page, but at any time, you can also force a site-wide cache refresh of your pages or content.
You can choose to receive an email when a cache refresh is complete, and you can refresh the status of a cache update while it is in progress.
To perform a site-wide page cache refresh
- In OrchestraCMS Setup, under Cache, click Page.
- Optionally, select Email me when cache refresh has completed. The email will be sent to the address associated with the Salesforce account of the user initiating the cache refresh.
- Click Refresh Cache.
- Optionally, click Refresh on a periodic basis to view information about the current status of the cache refresh.
Content caches are split into two types:
- Level 1. Content items that use a content template that has the isContentCacheable field selected on the Content Layout record in Salesforce.
- Level 2. Content items that use a content template that has the isPageCacheable field, but not the isContentCacheable field, selected on the Content Layout record in Salesforce. These content items typically contain page-specific properties.
If required, you can initiate a content cache refresh for both levels at the same time.
To perform a site-wide content cache refresh
- Under Cache, click Content.
- Optionally, under the Email on Completion column, and in the row of the level of content cache you want to refresh, click to select the Yes check box if you want to receive an email when the cache refresh is complete; the email will be sent to the address associated with the Salesforce account of the user initiating the cache refresh.
- In the row of the level of content cache you want to refresh, click Refresh.
- Optionally, under the Level 1 Job Status or Level 2 Job Status area, click Refresh to view the current status of the cache refresh.
A site-wide cache refresh can take a while to complete. The actual time it takes depends on the size of your site and the current load on Salesforce servers.
