Manage media file metadata

The metadata associated with media files can be used to implement custom functionality. There are three metadata fields included by default: label, category, and description. You can add metadata fields to meet your specific requirements.

Add a metadata field

  1. In Salesforce Setup, under Create, click Objects.
  2. On the Custom Objects page, under the Label column, click Library Content.
  3. In the Custom Fields & Relationships area, click New.
  4. Choose the field type for the metadata field, and then click Next.
  5. In the Field Name box, enter metadata_fieldname. For example, if you want a metadata field that defines the relevant region for the file, the name of the field could be metadata_region.
  6. In the Field Label box, enter a name for the field that you want to appear in the OrchestraCMS interface in the Add Metadata and Edit Metadata dialogs.
  7. Enter other field details as required, and then click Next.
  8. Select the Visible check box next to all of the Salesforce profiles that are associated with OrchestraCMS users who require the ability to add and edit media file metadata, and then click Next.
  9. Click Save.

The new metadata field now appears in the Add Metadata and Edit Metadata dialogs.

Edit the metadata associated with a file

  1. Click to select the folder that contains the file you want to edit.
  2. Click to select the check box beside the file you want to edit.
  3. On the Manage menu, click Edit Metadata.
  4. In the Edit Metadata dialog, enter or modify metadata to meet your requirements, and then click Save.
