Manage Licenses
OrchestraCMS and Salesforce both use licenses and profiles to determine baseline access to the respective application.
What licenses are right for you?
Here are some descriptions of licenses you might need.
Salesforce user licenses
Each Salesforce user is assigned a user license. Without one, a user can’t log in to Salesforce. Since a user must be able to log in to Salesforce to access OrchestraCMS, all OrchestraCMS users require a Salesforce user license.
In addition to internal users, external users also require a Salesforce Community license to log in to a portal—this type of license only provides access to a published portal, and not to the OrchestraCMS application.
Salesforce feature licenses
Some Salesforce features require additional licenses to be able to access them. Salesforce feature licenses are not specifically relevant to OrchestraCMS; however, any data captured in Salesforce—regardless of the feature being used—has the potential to be used on the sites you build with OrchestraCMS.
Salesforce feature licenses are applied to individual users—each user can have a single user license and multiple feature licenses.
Salesforce profiles
Within the constraints of the assigned licenses, a Salesforce user’s profile determines what they can do in Salesforce.
Salesforce also uses permission sets, which are assigned to specific users and grant permissions on top of the user’s profile permissions. Through one of these methods, a user must have specific permissions applied if they need to access OrchestraCMS.
OrchestraCMS user licenses
Each OrchestraCMS user is assigned a user license, which determines the maximum permissions that a user can have in OrchestraCMS. There are six types of OrchestraCMS user licenses:
OrchestraCMS System Administrator
This license includes permissions to use all OrchestraCMS features and cannot be modified. This license is automatically assigned to the person who installs the first site to OrchestraCMS.
OrchestraCMS Site Administrator
This license includes permissions to use all OrchestraCMS features. An OrchestraCMS System Administrator can limit permissions for users with this license.
This license type is useful if you have multiple sites and want to assign separate administrators.
OrchestraCMS Editor
This license includes permissions to create, edit, and publish content and pages. An OrchestraCMS System Administrator or OrchestraCMS Site Administrator can further limit permissions for users with this license. This is the most common license type.
OrchestraCMS Author
This license includes permissions to create, edit, and publish content only—not pages. An OrchestraCMS System Administrator or OrchestraCMS Site Administrator can further limit permissions for these users.
OrchestraCMS Publisher
This license includes permissions to preview and publish pages and content. An OrchestraCMS System Administrator or OrchestraCMS Site Administrator can further limit permissions for these users.
External User Preview
This license allows portal and community users who are external to your company to review unpublished pages via a link that is provided to them by an internal OrchestraCMS user. These users do not have permission to access the OrchestraCMS interface.
OrchestraCMS feature licenses
Some OrchestraCMS features require additional licenses to be able to access them. OrchestraCMS feature licenses are applied to an entire site, not individual users. The following feature licenses are available:
OrchestraCMS Private Sharing
This license enables the integration of the Salesforce private sharing model with OrchestraCMS. It allows you to control access to content and pages using access levels and manual sharing rules.
OrchestraCMS Compliance Engine
This license enables the compliance engine, which extends the capabilities of OrchestraCMS private sharing to meet specific regulatory requirements.
OrchestraCMS Targeting
This license enables targeting, which allows you to restrict access to content and pages based on fields in Salesforce user records.
OrchestraCMS AmazonS3 Library
This license enables the ability to extend your OrchestraCMS Media Libraries using Amazon S3 and, optionally, Amazon CloudFront.
OrchestraCMS Google Cloud Storage Library
This license enables the ability to extend your OrchestraCMS Media Libraries using Google Cloud Storage.
OrchestraCMS Email Distribution
This license enables the ability to send email publications and notifications to subscribers.
OrchestraCMS Past Publishing
This license enables the ability to set the start date of new content to a date in the past.
OrchestraCMS Extensions
OrchestraCMS Extensions is a set of Content Templates that extend the capabilities of OrchestraCMS.
OrchestraCMS Multilingual Sites
With the OrchestraCMS Multilingual Sites feature, you can manage a site that needs to be available in multiple languages without building separate sites, Pages or Content for each language. You can build a single site and provide translators with access to OrchestraCMS. The translators can then translate Content and Pages that are ready to be published on your live site.
Optionally, you can use an approval process to verify translations before they are published.
